Where It All Began

Some stores are built from a business plan. This one was built from a question.

What makes me feel joy?

That's the question Stephanie Evers asked herself after 15 years as a social worker — 15 years of showing up for people in their hardest moments, of learning what it means to truly care for someone. When it was time for her next chapter, she didn't look for a market gap or a profit margin. She looked inward.

The answer was this: beautiful things, thoughtfully chosen, given with love. A toy that sparks real imagination. A candle that makes a house feel like home. A gift so perfectly right that the person receiving it wonders how you knew.

That answer became Paper & Thread.

Why Lawrenceburg?

Because this is home. Because the people here deserve a store that feels like it was made exactly for them — and for so long, they've had to drive an hour to find it.

Paper & Thread exists because Lawrenceburg is the kind of community that shows up for each other. At birthdays and baby showers. At hard seasons and celebrations. At every moment that calls for something more than a gift card and good intentions.

We wanted to be the place you think of first. The place that makes gifting feel easy and meaningful. The place that makes you say, "I can't believe we have this here."

We hear that a lot. It never gets old.

What You'll Find Here

We carry brands you won't find anywhere else in this area — Maileg, TRVL, Emily Lex Studio — chosen because they share our belief that the things we give and keep should be beautiful, lasting, and full of meaning.

Every product on our shelves passed a simple test: does this bring joy? Not just the kind that fades by Tuesday — the kind that gets remembered. The kind that gets passed down.

You'll find nostalgic toys that actually get played with. Stationery that makes someone feel celebrated. Candles that turn an ordinary evening into something special. And gift baskets put together with the same care you'd hope someone put into a gift for you.
